Goffstown Rail Trail Fall Foliage Tour

What: Experience the Goffstown Rail Trail on a fine fall day
When: Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 - 10 AM to 2 PM (rain date Sunday, October 3rd)
Where: Start at the public parking lot at the Hillsborough County complex
Summary:
The Friends of the Goffstown Rail Trail are pleased to invite all members of the the general public to experience the Goffstown Rail Trail, on foot or on bike. Show up beginning at 10:00 for this free, self-guided event. Volunteers familiar with the trail will be on hand until 2:00, both at the start and along the trail, to provide information and answer questions. Detailed trail maps, including distances and suggested routes, will be handed out. Beverages and light refreshments will be available for sale. An optional shuttle car ride back to the start point will also be available for walkers.

Start and Parking: Hillsborough County Complex public parking lot, 329 Mast Road (Route 114), Goffstown.
(Trail access is directly behind the parking area.)
Route Description: The starting point is on the rail trail, just behind the parking area. Head east towards Manchester. The half-way point (1.5 miles) is where the trail reaches Moose Club Park Road. You may then return to the starting point, for a total trip of about 3 miles, or continue on for a longer trip. Walkers will also have the option of being shuttled back to the start point from Moose Club Park Road.
What to Bring: Good walking shoes, or a bicycle and helmet, water, snacks. You may want to bring money to purchase refreshments at the FGRT tents on the trail.
Details: Bicyclists and walkers with dogs on leashes are welcome to attend; however, the optional shuttle-car service is available for walkers only. You also have the option of continuing on the trail, if desired, to extend your travel distance. The handout is available here.
Other: A portable toilet will be available at the starting point. There are no other facilities along the designated route.
