GOFFSTOWN – The Board of Selectmen is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached in the acquisition of the Boston and Maine Railroad corridor in Goffstown. The purchase of the 5.9 mile railroad corridor starting at the Manchester line in Pinardville and ending in the Goffstown Village will provide an alternative transportation path connecting Pinardville, Grasmere and the Village areas of Goffstown. The town paid the State of New Hampshire the town’s $30,000 share from the 2003 budget. The Governor and Council will meet to approve the issuance of a check to Boston and Maine Corporation in the amount of $360,000 to effectuate the real estate transfer.

The Piscataquog River Local Advisory Council is initiating a design charrette to identify trail design challenges and to develop options to meet those challenges along the railroad corridor. The charrette is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of at Rosary Hall at the Villa Augustina School on Mast Road in Goffstown. Press releases and invitations to the charrette will be forthcoming.
